About Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Discover a diversity of awe-inspiring natural panoramas, the lofty peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri regions along with a spectacular walk to the base camp of the world’s tenth tallest peak: Annapurna I Main
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderately challenging trip to the base camp of tenth tallest peak in the world. The base camp is situated in a bowl-like formation surrounded by the steep faces of the Annapurna chain. For those searching for big-mountain views, excellent walking, and a less strenuous walk, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the best around.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is also attractive because it can be walked via a variety of customizable itineraries. We typically recommend the route that begins in Nayapul and passes through Ghorepani. Here you can wake very early, hike Poon Hill (3210m), and watch sunrise over Matchapuchare with a full, unobstructed panoramic view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. The view is jaw-droppingly beautiful and presents a delightful start to the day. From Ghorepani the route joins the base-camp trail from Chomrong. From here you continue to gain altitude and finally arrive at Annapurna Base Camp (4130m).
This route is particularly popular among flower enthusiasts as it takes you through the Annapurna Sanctuary’s rhododendron forests, which are in full bloom in the spring trekking season. Along the way you pass indigenous communities of the Magar and Gurung ethnic groups.
