Yes, the Nepal Trekking Association and Tourism Board have passed strong rules for the requirement of hiring a professional and licensed guide for the Gokyo Valley Trekking package. However, hiring a porter completely depends upon the decision of the trekker.

Is it possible for me to go for the Gokyo Valley Trek without prior experience?

We strongly recommend the trekkers to go for prior experience, at least some shorter hikes before ascending on the Gokyo Valley Trekking trail.
