About Gosaikunda Lake Trek

Gosaikunda Lake, also known as the frozen lake, is a beautiful lake located at an altitude of 4300 meters. The lake is situated in the Langtang Region of Nepal. Many people visit this place every year to delve into the natural and spiritual amazement of the place. Besides the lake, the trek also offers an amazing walk beside the Himalayas.

The 7-Day Gosaikunda Lake Trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche. From there, we start the walking journey and on the fourth day, the trekkers can find themselves in the destination. Besides being such a short journey, the adrenaline rush and adventure do not disappoint the trekkers. Moreover, you can also meet several other trekkers who are either ascending Gosaikunda Lake or other treks in the Langtang region.

Once you reach the Gosaikunda Lake, you will be welcomed by 100 Holy Kunda (Lakes) that attract many Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims to worship. According to Hindu history, Gosaikunda Lake was created by Lord Shiva to pacify his thirst after he consumed poison to stop the war between deities and Daityas. Therefore, if you go for the Gosaikunda Lake Trek in Janaipoornima (during August), you can see many Hindus and Buddhists taking a dip in this holy lake.

Besides the holy aspect of the Gosaikunda Lake, the Langtang region is also famous for its natural beauty, landscapes, and the unique tradition of the mixture of Sherpa and Tibetan culture. Moreover, the trekkers can also get a peek at some of the spectacular Himalayas like Langtang Lirung (7246M), Gangchempo (5846M), Dorje Lakpa (6966M), etc. Overall, the Gosaikunda Lake Trek in the Langtang region of Nepal can bring a different level of peace to your mind and soul. Useful Information

Which is the best season to ascend the Gosaikunda Lake Trek?

In Nepal, the weather is best during the Spring season (March to May) and the Autumn season (late September to November). During these two seasons, the weather is very pleasant with clear skies, more greenery, and less slippery routes in the Gosaikunda Lake Trek. Besides, due to the clear weather, you can also get amazing views of the snow-covered peaks throughout the journey. Also, all the tea houses, lodges, and guesthouses will be open during these seasons.

However, even these pleasant seasons have their downsides. You might experience a crowded route because this is the peak trekking season. Due to the over-crowdedness of the route, there might be difficulties in finding proper accommodation if not pre-booked.

Other than the Spring and Autumn seasons, you can also ascend this trail during the winter season. Winter season which lasts from late November to February is a perfect time for adventure seekers and thrill lovers to ascend the Gosaikunda Lake Trek. We do not recommend that newbies or less experienced trekkers hit this trail in the winter season. Because of the extreme and unforeseen temperature conditions, most of the tea houses and hotels also remain closed during the winter season.

Therefore, the best season to ascend the Gosaikunda Lake is in the Spring and Autumn seasons for regular trekkers and in the winter season if you are an adventure lover and thrill seeker.

Gosaikunda Lake trek is not a type of trek where you can just make plans a few days ago and go for. Food and Accommodation Facilities During the Gosaikunda Lake Trek

Talking about accommodation, we make sure to arrange the most cozy and comfortable rooms in the hotel with all the facilities that the trekkers need. Almost all the guesthouses and hotels, including the ones in the top-most areas, provide facilities like internet, electricity, and mobile networks. However, the only catch is that you might have to pay extra for those facilities in the higher altitude.

During the peak trekking season, we request the trekkers to pre-book the package so that we can arrange the best accommodation for you. The reason behind that is during the peaks, the chances of hotels being occupied are higher.
