About Helambu Trek
Helambu Trekking is a cultural excursion located at the nearest destination from the Kathmandu valley. It is an easy trek that begins through the Shivapuri National Park and takes a circuit trail in the lower part of the Langtang National Park. Trekkers love to do this trek, which does not bring to the altitude sickness and offers the brilliant views of the snow capped Himalayas of the Gaurishanker range.
Trek in the Helambu trail is basically outstanding to explore the diversity of Sherpa culture, which is different than the Sherpa culture of the Khumbu region. The Helambu trek begins from Sundarijal and goes through the dense woods, which is a watershed area. Exploring the cascading waterfalls, the trail leads you through the ethnic Tamang communities. The gentle trail is highly suitable for the family treks and is convenient for the short duration trekkers. Tharepati Pass (3690 meters) is the highest pass of the trail and ultimately it goes down to the culturally significant places as Melamchi Gaon, Tarkeghyang and Sermathang. Helambu valley is named after the Hyolmo culture. You can enjoy the cultural blend of Tibetan Sherpa, monasteries, Chhortens and Mani walls. The peaceful trail is less crowded than the Annapurna and Everest trail. Few trekkers descend from the Gosaikunda Lake, crossing the Lauribina Pass. The Himalayan views include Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Gaurishanker, Ganesh Himal, Langshisa Ri, Gangchenpo, Yala peak, Naya Kanga and the Annapurna Himalayan range.
