One of the first things that anyone should be aware of before heading out on any trek or tour is the weather and climatic situation. So, we suggest trekkers know which season or time of the year is the best for the 8 Day Langtang Valley Trek before you book the package. As per the adventure experts, the Spring season (March to May) or Autumn season (mid-September to November) are the best times to go for any trekking in Nepal and the same goes for the 8-Day Langtang Valley Trek.

During these seasons, trekkers can enjoy better views, pleasant weather, a relaxing walk, and an amazing landscape. Moreover, the sights of rhododendron blooms, lush green forests, and clear sights of the mighty Himalayas act as the cherry on top. If you visit the Langtang region during the Spring or Autumn season, you can also find most of the hotels and lodges open on the route. This means that trekkers can get better facilities and higher food variations. Moreover, the journey will also be risk-free and comparatively safer from altitude sickness.

For some extra adventure, adrenaline-rush, and risk lovers, the Winter season (late November to February) is also a good time to go for the 8 Day Langtang Valley Trek. However, one must be aware of the fact that during the winter season, the route is comparatively risky due to slippery tracks and potential fog. Moreover, hotels and lodges also remain closed due to uncertain weather and extremely cold temperatures.

Is Langtang Valley Trekking suitable for anyone?

Langtang Valley Trekking route is comparatively easy if you choose the best season as mentioned above. As the weather, climate, and different other factors remain in the trekker's favor, you can ascend the 8 Day Langtang Valley Trekking Trail with much ease and comfort. Therefore, we suppose that this trek will be suitable for anyone during the spring and autumn seasons.

However, by anyone, we do not mean anyone because there are still some groups that Adventure Bound considers not eligible to go for the Langtang Valley 8 Day Trek and they are:

  • Very young infants and very old age people.
  • People with serious issues related to the heart, bones, and muscles.

Regarding the winter season trekking, we only suggest that highly professional trekkers ascend to the 8 Day Langtang Valley Trek. Due to unforeseen climatic conditions and highly difficult terrain, not everyone can for this trek during the winter season.

Altitude Sickness During the 8 Day Langtang Valley Trek and its Remedies

The 8 Day Langtang Valley Trek takes the trekkers to the altitude of about 5000 meters above sea level. Altitude sickness is one of the most common but brutal (if not cured or treated on time) illnesses or issues at such high altitudes. In most cases, trekkers start facing the symptoms of altitude sickness immediately as they ascend higher than 3000 meters above sea level.

Here are some of the most common symptoms of or signs of altitude sickness;

  • Headache
  • Lethargy
  • A drop in performance
  • Lack of coordination
  • Insomnia
  • Appetite loss
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea

Be careful if you feel like any of the symptoms listed above. However, we suggest you not worry or panic because, with a little precaution, trekkers can stay safe from altitude sickness issues as well. Here are a few remedies for altitude sickness when you are ascending on the 8 Day Langtang Valley Trek:

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the trek. It is suggested to drink 1 liter of water after ascending 500 meters.
  • Trekkers must avoid alcohol consumption completely. Alcohol can cause dehydration which leads to altitude sickness during high altitude journeys.
  • When you are at a higher altitude, you must eat carbs to gain more calories in your body. This makes you physically strong and helps you resist some symptoms of altitude sickness.
  • Utilize the acclimatization day properly and remember the ascend higher, sleep lower formula.
  • Do not increase the pace. Keep a slow but steady pace and keep your mind and body completely relaxed throughout the journey.
