Lower Dolpo Trek commences from Juphal airstrip of Dolpo, after a scenic flight from Nepalgunj. It is the fastest means of transportation, but the roads are being constructed. The whole aria is arid as it lies in the Himalayan rain shadow area. Based on your choice, the trek can be done in clockwise and anti-clockwise route. Dunai is the district center of Dolpo that lies at the bank of the Thulo Bheri River. Then the trek heads above Dunai through Tarakot, Yak Kharka, Dho Tarap and finally come some of the challenging high passes for which acclimatization and physical fitness are essential. Numa La and Baga La Pass are technical but the views from the top of the passes are superb. Thoughout this alpine part, people go to collect the caterpillar fungus and the scenario of the peoples movement has been described as a caravan trip. The undulating path leads you to the most fascinating place-Phoksundo Lake. Phoksundo Lake via Chepka and small settlement of the Bon Po devotees, the open and wide pristine Lake offers a wonderful sensation to your mind, body and heart. It is just breathtaking. The trek descends and head towards Juphal and you fly to your further destination.
