Your day begins with an early morning drive from Pokhara to Jhinu Danda, a scenic journey of around 3–4 hours through terraced hillsides and charming villages. After reaching Jhinu (near the Modi Khola river), you'll start your trek towards Lower Sinuwa, gradually ascending through lush forests and stone steps.

The trail climbs steadily, passing through Chhomrong, one of the largest Gurung villages in the region. After a brief rest here, you'll descend a steep staircase to cross the Chhomrong Khola, followed by a final ascent through bamboo and rhododendron forests to reach Lower Sinuwa (2,300 m), a peaceful spot perched on the hillside with views of the surrounding peaks.

Expect a full day of travel and trekking, with plenty of beautiful scenery and a taste of the terrain ahead in the Annapurna Sanctuary.

  • Accommodation: Hotel / Lodge / Guesthouse
  • Place: Sinuwa
  • Altitude: 2300 meters / 7118 feet

Today’s trek begins with a gentle walk through a dense, serene forest filled with bamboo, oak, and rhododendron. From Lower Sinuwa, the trail contours along the hillside before descending slightly to Bamboo. This section is cool and shaded, often echoing with birdsong and the rush of nearby streams.

From Bamboo, the trail gradually ascends through the forest to Dovan and then continues upward to Himalaya. The path is dotted with waterfalls, moss-covered rocks, and occasional glimpses of the towering peaks above the trees. As you gain altitude, the vegetation starts to thin, and the air becomes noticeably cooler.

By the time you reach Himalaya (2,900 m), you’ll feel the change in landscape—less forested and more alpine. This peaceful resting point offers a quiet overnight stop nestled in the valley, surrounded by cliffs and snowy ridges.

Leaving Himalaya, the trail ascends gradually through a narrow valley, surrounded by steep rock walls and the occasional sight of avalanche debris. After passing Deurali, the landscape opens up, revealing more dramatic mountain scenery and alpine terrain.

You’ll then continue climbing toward Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m), set beneath the iconic, fishtail-shaped Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m). The views from here are already spectacular, with close-up sights of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and the sacred Machhapuchhre itself.

From MBC, the trail continues gently upwards into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, eventually leading to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m). Surrounded on all sides by towering Himalayan peaks, ABC offers a breathtaking 360° panorama—this natural amphitheater is home to giants like Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Tent Peak, and Baraha Shikhar.

You'll spend the night here, with time to soak in the views during sunset and reflect on the journey into the very lap of the Himalayas.

  • Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
  • Accommodation: Hotel / Lodge / Guesthouse
  • Place: Annapunra Base Camp

After enjoying a magical sunrise over the Himalayas at Annapurna Base Camp, you’ll begin your descent back down the trail. The walk retraces your steps through the wide glacial valley and past Machhapuchhre Base Camp, offering a final look at the soaring peaks of the Annapurna Sanctuary.

As you descend, the air gets warmer and the vegetation becomes greener. You’ll pass through Deurali, Himalaya, and Dovan, retracing the peaceful forested paths that lead back into the lush, mossy terrain of the lower elevations.

Your overnight stop is at Bamboo (2,400 m), a quiet settlement tucked into the forest. The downhill journey is easier on the lungs but can be a bit tough on the knees, so trekking poles are helpful.

Bamboo provides a cozy and restful break after the high-altitude adventure of the previous days.

From Jhinu, you’ll take a short drive back to Pokhara, which takes about 2–3 hours. As you travel, you can reflect on your incredible journey through the Annapurna region, with scenic views of hills and rivers along the way.
