On the first day, the trekkers/travelers will arrive at the International Airport in Kathmandu. Here, Adventure Bound representatives will welcome you from the airport and take you to the hotel where you can check-in and rest for a while. After freshening up, in your desired time we will meet at the Adventure bound to share the information, meet the guide and know more about what’s coming with day 2. 

We do not delay at all and set off on our journey to the overland trip to Upper Mustang. On the second day, After breakfast in the hotel you and your guide will be picked up by a private jeep and start the journey towards Pokhara. Taking around 7 hours, you will experience lots of up hills, down hills, rivers, landscapes and mountains. When you enter Nepal's heart city Pokhara, you start getting amazing scenes and scenarios of lakes, mountains, valleys, temples, and a clean and tidy environment.

The vehicle stops in the hotel that Adventure Bound has arranged for the travelers during their stay in Pokhara. You can check in at the hotel, get freshened up, and spend the rest of the time exploring the beauty of Pokhara Valley. You will love what this city offers. Moreover, the nightlife in the Pokhara lakeside is another wonder in Nepal. After spending the evening and night celebrating and exploring the Pokhara Lakeside, trekkers will return to the hotel and rest.

On the third day, we leave Pokhara and ascend towards Kagbeni. The journey takes around 8 hours to conclude. It might be a little exhausting and tiresome, but the entire route offers travelers the feeling of adrenaline rush and adventure. The drive will be full of enjoyment through a dirt path.

Traveling from Pokhara to Kagbeni is an amazing part of the overland tour to Upper Mustang as it takes from green landscapes to barren lands and well-pitched roads to dirt and less developed roads. On this day, the travelers wake up early in the morning, have their breakfast, and then set off on another journey from Kagbeni to Charang (Tsarang). This is another adventurous and rough journey by vehicle. As the road is comparatively distorted, you might face a little difficulty while passing through this part of the overland Upper Mustang Tour. However, what awaits you at the destination must encourage your journey and keep you motivated to continue this tour.

As you reach Tsarang, you are welcomed by a Tibetan-influenced village and the locals living in that area. This beautiful village lies at an altitude of 11482 ft and this is also the second-largest village in the entire Mustang region. However, one amazing thing about such a large village is that it only has around 130 homes and around 700 inhabitants.

Due to the barren land and not much possibilities of vegetation, you will find yourself in a desert-like area. Despite that, the locals have done a few terraced farming. All the houses are made up of stones and the village is also highly influenced by the Buddhist religion.

On the fifth day, the explorers will be in for a walking adventure. Yes, we are about to hike up to the Luri Cave and return back to Charang for the night. Luri is a Gompa located at an altitude of 4005 meters or 13140 feet. It is a sacred cave located in the southeast part of Lo Manthang and holds a spiritual significance.

Typically known as the Luri Cave Monastery, this Gumpa can be one of the best places for you to visit during the overland Tour of Upper Mustang. As you reach Luri Cave after walking for a few hours, you are surrounded by unique cave paintings, sculptures, culture, and history. The cave consists of two chambers with the walls and ceilings reflecting paintwork that takes spectators back to the 14th century.

Within the Luri cave monastery, a chorten is adorned with four protector deities and eight lucky symbols. Namgyal, Khadcheri, Vajrasattva, and Lokesvara are shown in four directions on the Dom: east, west, north, and south, respectively. The monastery has numerous paintings depicting the lama, the eight siddhas, and mandalas.

By the evening, we request all the travelers to return to Charang for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel arranged by the Adventure Bound team. With that, we spend the fifth day of the Upper Mustang Overland Tour.

After spending a day and a night at Charang, we drive off on the sixth day to Lo Manthang. Lo Manthang is one of the most beautiful and preferred places of the entire overland tour to Upper Mustang. The ride from Charang to Lo Manthang takes only a few hours but it offers one of the most panoramic landscape views and after a few hours of driving, we enter the walled city.

You will love the picturesque views that this place offers and also the warm hospitality offered by the locals win your hearts. In Lo Manthang, the travelers will check in at the hotel arranged by Adventure Bound and enjoy clean accommodations with a healthy, tasty, and fulfilling lunch.

After having lunch, you can explore the area and interact with the locals to learn more about the place and its lifestyle. On the seventh day, we take a little time to explore the Chosar village and Chosar Cave. This village is located in the northern part of Lo Manthang and near the Tibetan Border. One of the amusing facts about Chosar is that it consists of around 10,000 man-made caves which have been there for more than 3000 years.

On this day of the overland tour of Upper Mustang, we get to learn about how people lived back in history as all those caves were built for humans to live in. Currently, you can see monks meditating in these caves. We drive up to the Lo Dela, a mountain pass, where we go on a beautiful stroll along a ridge. On a clear day, the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri Himal should be visible to the south. After taking in the surrounding artwork and sculptures, we make our way back to Charang for the night.

On the eleventh day, we drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu in a private vehicle after having breakfast in the hotel at Pokhara. It takes around 7 hours for the jeep or other private vehicle to reach Kathmandu. As we reach Kathmandu, Adventure Bound's representatives pick you up and take you to the hotel where you can spend the night. This officially marks the end of the Upper Mustang Overland Tour in Nepal.

Travelers are reminded to collect all the belongings that they had left behind at Adventure Bound's office once they reach Kathmandu.
